Sound tile tactile informing
Dutch Railways special

type MTB-04/MTB-05

On train platforms and in station concourses, objects such as the Check-in Check-out post or SOS column can be found by people with visual impairments by using aluminium sound tiles. Especially for ProRail, TG Lining has developed a version with a yellow coating. This type has been tested by Dekra Rail and fully complies, both in terms of slip resistance and ease of cleaning, with the requirements laid down by ProRail in the product directive SPC00216.

The sound tile has an informative function owing to its surface which has a dotted profile as well as the sound box which, when touched by cane, produces a sound different from that of the surrounding pavement. There are tiles in a 65 mm thick version for installation in a sand bed, and in a 20 mm thin version for a cement or concrete-bedded element.
